Naked Sunday is a London-based online t-shirt store that was launched in late 2012 if I am correct. They describe themselves as a street wear label born in the heart of London. Here’s what they have to say about their first collection:
Naked Sunday’s debut collection, “The Odyssey [remixed],” is a modern twist on the epic saga of adventure, love, and fortune. The collection features six stories portrayed through a fusion of vivid photography and illustration.
Naked Sunday T-Shirt Review
The shirt we received to review was called A ‘dam Circus and I can easily say that it is one of the nicest shirts we have ever reviewed here. It is refreshing to get a tee from a new brand that is not American Apparel. Not that I have anything against American Apparel but they are just so generic now.
The shirt is made from 100% cotton, very soft and quite fine. It feels good on the skin. This is a medium tee and it is a little looser and shorter than an equivalent American Apparel. The neck-band is sliced open to paradoxically give it both a vintage and premium t-shirt vibe. It looks great and I think it will continue to look great after it begins to fray. And it will fray.
The print is so soft as to be barely noticeable and the colors have a muted quality that hints of steampunk leanings.
The design is a beautiful collage featuring a very attractive young lady. This tee was clearly designed for people younger and trendier than me but when I tried it on I admit that I was (and still am) attempted to keep it for myself. I’d have to check with my better half though. I don’t want to be that guy.
There is a printed tag on the inside back but it is actually printed on a piece of matching white cotton and sewn on. Looks great despite just being their logo, size and a little text.
There is also a hangtag which is made out of some kind of fabric too, rather than the usual card or occasional plastic. On one side is the logo and on the other side is a poem.
There is also a large logo on the bottom right hand side on the back of the tee.
Apart from the hangtag there was one simple black and white sticker. Nothing to write home about. With the beautiful artwork they have on their tees I have to believe that they could have come up with something much better. Something that the youth of today would be interested in sticking somewhere.
The website is clean and easy to navigate but it feels like very little effort was put into it. I like the white space but not the boxes that appear around text and menus.
I would say that they site needs to be redesigned but I think that it was probably not really designed in the first place. There were just a few elements added to template. That’s my impression anyway.
At the moment Naked Sunday are on their first release which they have called The Odyssey [remixed] Collection. There are just 6 tees but they work well as a collection.
T-Shirts are priced at £30 (UK) or $45 (US). That’s not all that cheap for a t-shirt but you are getting what looks like a premium product.
This is a great start for a new brand and they have an amazing product with beautiful artwork. Of course they need to release more t-shirts but I would work on improving the site design to bring it more in line with the aesthetic they use with their t-shirt art. The prices will be seen as high for some but I think the people who will be buying these t-shirts won’t be put-off by them.
