I realize that this is late news but I came across this draft post that I had created about Cameesa being taken over and rebooted. I was kind of waiting for more information before I posted it but when the information didn’t come I guess I just forgot about it. Anyway today I checked them out and the Cameesa.com domain just redirected to zazzle.co.uk. At first I didn’t understand what had happened as I am a Zazzle shopkeeper so I thought I just clicked the wrong link or something but sure enough the Cameesa.com domain does redirect to zazzle.co.uk.
A bit of investigation told me that the domain rather than the site was sold to Zazzle who are probably using it for the inbound links around the web rather than for a Cameesa relaunch.
Below is the post that I had kept in draft since last October:
I’m not sure whether I mentioned it on Twitter or not but recently crowdfunding t-shirt site Cameesa announced they were going out of business. Well, it seems that they managed to sell their business and Cameesa will continue under new management. Hopefully it will be more successfult this time. The business model has been chnaged slightly and you can read about it below. This is the email I received:
As one of the new owners of Cameesa, I’d like to say how happy we
are to be holding the reins for this excellent crowdfunding
concept and the great collection of artists gathered here. Please
give us a few days to settle in and deal with the administrative
side of things and then we’ll introduce ourselves and our vision
for the company in more depth and open up the floor for questions. In the meantime, to all of the artists out there — time to pour
a glass of creative juice and start brainstorming a new shirt
idea. The theme? Halloween! My partner, K, and I really like
to celebrate Halloween (it’s a huge deal for us) and want to
carry that over to Cameesa. She’s partial to cats and zombies, I
am to spiders, but what about you? You can go scary, cutesy,
surreal, or any style you want.So why should you put forth effort on this; what’s the incentive?
The first ten shirts that gain twenty supporters (only 20!) will
print for the holiday! The shirt with the most supports will be
given a contract. More details will follow (and a special bonus),
but start thinking now. We plan for submissions to open around
the twelfth and voting/supporting to end around the 18th, with
printing/shipping occurring immediately thereafter. In the meantime why don’t you grab one of the existing Cameesa tees for just $10 while you still can.
It seems the deal fell through but the people who were going to take over Cameesa will open (or have already opened) their own website.
Please comment with your real name using good manners.
