It’s been a few years since I did the last Design by Humans t-shirt review. Back then, I bought two tees. One for my wife and one for myself. For myself I bought the Attack 77 T-Shirt by aliadotony. The design was mostly towards the bottom of the shirt and the ink was quite heavy. I really liked the design and I thought the shirt looked good but there was just too much ink on the shirt. It almost felt like the bottom of the shirt was cardboard. I didn’t like that so didn’t wear it in public much and after a few washes the shape wasn’t so great. It became a pajama tee until I just decided to throw it out.
It was a learning experience though, because since then I have been wary about getting t-shirts with large prints, especially dark tees as they need more ink than light tees to be vibrant. Anyway, that’s a long time ago and I’ve had a few DBH t-shirts since. But I have never really been satisfied with them. Their cut didn’t really match my body type.
On the other hand, my wife has had tons of DBH tees over the years and they look great on her. She’s hot though, so everything looks good on her.
Design by Humans T-Shirt Review
The t-shirt that I ordered is a heather grey (the description on DBH says charcoal but…) t-shirt with a one color design. 50% cotton, 50% polyester. Very soft and even the white ink on the fairly dark t-shirt is so soft as to be barely noticeable. I like the cut too. This is the DBH Premium Blend t-shirt. The fabric seems light but good quality. Good for Okinawa summer.
Design
There is not much to say about the design really. It is a triangle that looks like it’s been sliced up in a Tarantino movie. I chose it because of its simplicity. The artwork is by the talented Jorge Lopez aka Expo.
Breaking Balance is a fresh design tee with minimalist graphics. Available on a super soft heather tee this tee has huge cool appeal. Wear this to tee to proclaim your awesome style and be the envy of every graphic tee lover. A super popular tee with many many requests for a reprint, you asked and we delivered, no thanks necessary. -DBH
Extras
The tee came in a custom plastic mailer which is partly transparent allowing you to see what’s inside. There was also a Design by Humans sticker attached to the t-shirt like a hangtag. Clever idea.
Website
I have always loved the Design by Humans website and it has gotten even better over time. Clear navigation and lots of ways to interact. You can submit designs to their Design contest, critique other people’s designs as well as getting advice for yours, chat in the reasonably active forums and more. There is a Tee Grinder game where you can get some great value semi-random t-shirts. And if you have successfully had a t-shirt printed at Design by Humans you might be able to host your own store on the DBH website where DBH will promote and sell DTG t-shirts with you designs on them.
Wrap-up
Good quality shirt with an original and cool design. Great website with a huge selection of t-shirts. The regular price is $20 but I paid just $12 so I can’t complain about the price either. It’s still available for $12 if you are interested.

Worst experience I’ve ever had! Didn’t receive items and no full refund either?? An International buyer has no chance of a full refund!! Wasted my time back and forth dealing with customer assistant. Better to buy where else unless you live in the U.S, and avoid scams like them. Be careful there are plenty of con-artist out there too!
Totally not my experience with them. Ordered 6 shirts or so and one of them arrived the wrong size. They sent me the correct size and let me keep the other one too.
Design by Humans has been the worst online shopping experience. Has some excuse that it takes up to 5 weeks to ship 3 t-shirts with no option to refund. Not recommend this site to anyone!!!!
I wouldn’t recommend this site to anyone, as the shipping service is AWEFUL.
I ordered a t-shirt back in April, and it was supposed to arrive in tops one month. Instead, it never arrived (and it was an anniversary present, sigh), so I contacted the customer service to have it reshipped. This second time, the product arrived, but after more than one month and a half from the order, without any gift card for the anniversary (as I had asked), and with an extra custom to pay.
I’m definitely NOT SATISFIED with the service, and, although the designs are really nice, I don’t think it’s worthy to wait months for a product, without the certainty that it will arrive and with no possibility to track the shipping.
I got a shirt for my daughter and called Deign first and asked what size would be best. They suggested a medium. She got the medium and it is too tight so I contacted them and asked if she could get a prepaid return label to avoid paying return shipping and they refuse to do that. Never again will I use this website.
It took 2 months for my shirts to arrive. The sizes were all over the place and the design lost most of its color after the first wash despite following the washing suggestions to the letter. I love the designs and there is so many more that I want but there has been one to many issues for me to order more.
That’s too bad. I have had DBH shirts last for years but that was years back when they screenprinted and had lots of other enhancements.
